Биография после окончания Университета:
	I worked at the Central Institute of Microbiology and Experimental Therapy of the Academy of Sciences of GDR in Jena till re-unification of Germany. From 1977-1982 I was an external PhD student of the Department of Genetics in Leningrad and received my PhD there. When our institute in Jena was re-organized, I continued to work in one of the new institutes, the Hans-Knoell-Institut e.V. till 2000. Over all the years I kept contacts to my Russian colleagues and collaborated with them. By personal reasons (I followed my new life partner) I now work at the School of Veterinary Medicine of the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia. Now I work on S. cerevisiae, but the topic of my work is very close related to my previous work.
